Empower Locals
Increase internal organizing support for existing UE locals
Increase support for open shop locals (right-to-work states, public sector) & open shop resources.
Assist signing up non-members, bolstering contract campaigns, and creating new employee orientation materials to educate new hires about our union and its proud history.
Build the national strike fund and help locals get strike ready.
Facilitate cross-local meetings and communication.
Connect workers employed in common industries and facing similar challenges: co-ops, the public sector, health care, service centers, manufacturing, higher ed, rail, education, right-to-work states/open shops, and beyond.
Strengthen regional networks across industries.
Expand union-wide meetings and trainings between local officers in similar roles (treasurers, stewards, communications, etc).
Reduce local administrative burden.
Conduct strategic research to support local campaigns and support research development between locals.
Ensure consistent, trained support for all UE locals in building their member power.
Explore allowing locals who have the funds to hire staff through the national union. Investigate whether the national could cover payroll and other administration, while the local provides funds and directs the work of the staff member.
Create an online store for UE merch, and allow locals to put their own designs on this webstore. Locals will keep the proceeds made from their designs.
Create more digital systems - per capita reports, new officer lists after local elections, and member list updates.
