Strengthen Union Democracy

  • Support and expand caucuses for Black workers; LGBTQIA+; Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC); Women; and International workers to support cross-local communication and make needs known to the national union.

    • Ensure there is infrastructure to support caucuses with communication, outreach, and regular meetings.

  • Establish regular meetings between national officers and local presidents.

  • Rebuild regions!

    • Empower more members to take on regional leadership roles.

    • Continue exploring the creation of more regions with more regional officers so that:

      • Travel to regional meetings is easier.

      • Relationships and organizing projects between nearby locals are encouraged.

      • The responsibilities of elected leadership in the union are more broadly distributed.

  • Increase member participation in the General Executive Board (GEB).

    • Explore adding more members to the GEB to reflect recent union growth so that member voices continue to be represented.

    • Expand ways for locals to present issues to the GEB for consideration.

    • Streamline GEB report-backs after meetings, potentially by Zoom or video, as well as develop other methods to increase member access.
