Strengthen Union Democracy
Support and expand caucuses for Black workers; LGBTQIA+; Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC); Women; and International workers to support cross-local communication and make needs known to the national union.
Ensure there is infrastructure to support caucuses with communication, outreach, and regular meetings.
Establish regular meetings between national officers and local presidents.
Rebuild regions!
Empower more members to take on regional leadership roles.
Continue exploring the creation of more regions with more regional officers so that:
Travel to regional meetings is easier.
Relationships and organizing projects between nearby locals are encouraged.
The responsibilities of elected leadership in the union are more broadly distributed.
Increase member participation in the General Executive Board (GEB).
Explore adding more members to the GEB to reflect recent union growth so that member voices continue to be represented.
Expand ways for locals to present issues to the GEB for consideration.
Streamline GEB report-backs after meetings, potentially by Zoom or video, as well as develop other methods to increase member access.
